May 12, 2000 - Roza Performs in Ice Circus

On the way from France to Emirates on skates

Moscow Circus on Ice, visiting Stavropol for the first time in its 30 year history, is finishing its tour in the regional center.

Asked how such famous artists could have been lured to such remote region, program director Natalia Abramova replied: "It was an accident. Our luggage from Marseilles was delivered to Novorossiysk. It's very close. So, we decided to give performance in Stavropol. From here, we are leaving on tour of United Arab Emirates."

This Circus on Ice is the only one of its kind in the world. It is also remarkable that young people ages 18-25 are majority in the company of 40 performers. Every performer is versatile in several genres and performs in up to 6 acts. They have to carry a double load: besides circus profession, they also have to master ice-skating. The stars in the company are: Anastasia Efimova, international elite in ice skating, Roza Galieva, World Champion in artistic gymnastics, representatives of famous circus dynasty - clowns Shuydiny (older people probably remember famous pair Nikulin - Shuydin).

For Stavropol, which does not have ice-skating tradition, a tour of such a famous company, is a huge event. Besides, it is simply an unforgettable sight. But a question comes up: where, in this farm land, did they find ice ? Moscovites brought it with them. More precise, not ice, but refrigerating equipment - all 3 containers of it. Several days of preparation - and ice arena is ready for the show, which fascinates by the splendor of its costumes, sound, light and the professionalism of its performers, who demostrate a full range of all circus genres. Too bad they were unable to bring bears on skates.

They were applauded in France, Italy, England, Japan. Now, we can say with full assurance that artists on ice acquired new admirers here as well.
