Women's Professional Gymnastics Championships

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, April 4 & 5

Venue: Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Mass.

Roster: Competitors will include Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Dominique Moceanu, Amy Chow, Amanda Borden, Kim Zmeskal, Roza Galieva and one more athlete to be named. Format: On Saturday, each athlete will compete one routine on each of the four apparatus. On Sunday, the competitors will be seeded based on Saturday results, with the scores carried over from Saturday. They will compete vault and uneven bars, then will be reseeded. They then will finish on balance beam and floor exercise (performance format).


World Professional Gymnastics Championships

Dates: May 2-3, 1998

Site: Toledo, OH

Roster:

Women -- Amanda Borden, Amy Chow, Dominique Dawes, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Roza Galiyeva, Lilia Podkopayeva, one other woman to be announced.

Men -- Mihai Bagiu, John Macready, John Roethlisberger, Chainey Umphrey, Blaine Wilson, Evgeny Podgornyi, two other men to be announced.

Format:

Day 1 -- all 16 athletes will compete one routinue on each of the following apparatus: Women -- floor, vault, uneven bars Men -- floor, pommel horse, still rings

Day 2 -- all 16 athletes will compete one routine on each of the following apparatus:

Women -- floor (performance routine, vocal music allowed), balance beam

Men -- parallel bars, vault, high bar

Routines to be based on NCAA rules, scoring is on a 1-10 system, judges to be USAG sanctioned. Scores from both days will count toward the final all-around title.
