Balance Beam
1. Anna Kovalyova (RUS) - 9.575;
2. Yevgenia Kuznetsova
(RUS) - 9.525; 3. Lisa
Mason (GBR) - 8.25
Kovalyova did a front on to immediate
wolf jump; handspring front (wobble); flip flop, layout, flip
flop; Shushunova (like on floor) to back hip circle (twice) and
a double tuck dismount.
Kuznetsova did a front on; front
aerial; full-twisting flip flop to flip flop layout; wolf jump
to flip flop, flip flop swing down; double pike dismount. I thought
she performed a bit better than Kovalyova and should have at least
tied her.
Lisa Mason's routine is just
packed with difficulty! She did a front on; flip flop to full
(fall); side somi; standing Arabian to immediate jump, and a double
back off.
Chusovitina (4th) fell on her
front-on mount and again on her front tuck, and scored only 7.375.
Roza Galiyeva had a disastrous
time of it. She mounted with a layout but fell (it almost looked
like she had it and just jumped off). She made her flip flop layout
but fell on her front tuck and put her hands down on her double
tuck dismount. The result was a dismal 6.7.
I have no idea why Gogean did
not compete on beam...
Roza Galiyeva has definitely
retired, she says for good this time ("I'm tired!")
She's working as a coach, but said she hates it, so you never
know... She kiddingly said she might compete for Uzbekistan again.
She and Chusovitina were inseparable most of the time and were
constantly laughing and joking around. I
asked Roza about that article in Moskovsky
komsomolets, and she said the entire thing was a lie and
she was pretty upset about it! Oksana
backed her up and said that the author had just made up all the
quotes and attributed them to Roza.
According to Galiyeva, Yelena
Grosheva has retired. :( I got the impression that Dina Kochetkova
has too, but Roshchina is still in touch with her.
That's all for now
